OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
Just today when we finally got to see that this year’s Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 4 we also learned that Ubisoft is going to release a sequel for the Division, being called the Division 2! The Division 2 will be developed by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest. The game will also run on an updated version of the Snowdrop engine. The full statement by Massive Entertainment can be read here.
2018 for the Division
So in the statement mentioned above, we learn that Massive Entertainment will show us the Division 2 at E3 2018 in June. Leading the road to the release of the Division 2, the team will also release update and will hold monthly events. Let’s have a look at them, shall we? First of the monthly events, which you can easily spot on the official graph right here:
For March we have the Celebration, as the Division 1 is actually having its 2nd birthday. Hooray (yes, I did actually like the endgame, no matter how dull it was, but especially after the game received the Survival DLC)
The following months will get monthly global events:
– April: Global Event Blackout
– May: Global Event Onslaught
– June: Global Event Outbreak
– July: Global Event Assault
– August: Global Event Strike
– September: Global Event Ambush
Shields are coming as well
What are shields? Well in order to honor the players of the Division 1, Massive Entertainment crafted a way to just do so for the Division 2 game. Massive Entertainment writes “Part of that means recognizing your commitment to The Division. With that in mind, we’re adding a new type of achievement called “Shields” to the game. Earning them will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it launches.” How these will look like, we don’t know as of yet. Also coming to the Division will be the Xbox One X patch, due this April, so we will have the (hopefully) best console gaming experience with the Division 1, I’ll be sure to check this update out once it is live. Also coming in April is an update to classified drop rates which will be increased across the board to 6% (from previously 3%).
With that in mind, what do you think about the Division? Are you excited for a sequel? Let us know here in the comments or join our Discord server to start a discussion.
