originally planned for a November 2019 release
Microïds and PlayMagic announced in last April the planned release date for XIII for this year in November. Today it was announced that the 2003 cult classic will still be coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, just a little later. In case you don’t know the original, here’s the trailer from April of this year.
more time = better development
As per usual, the extended development time will be used to polish up the rerelease of the game. For me, as someone who wants to see the gaming industry thrive and have developers a good working enviroment, this is good news. Besides of course that the game will also be in a better state right from the start instead of it being patched over months until it will get into the shape it deserves. But let’s hear from the studio themself:
“We are thrilled with PlayMagic’s work so far. This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.”
François Coulon – Head of Production at Microïds
